About Me
I am a third year Ph.D student in Machine Learning at the University of Montreal, under the direction of Yoshua Bengio.
Research Interests
My interests are at the cross-roads of machine learning, computer vision and neuroscience. How does the brain perform its magic ? How does it learn to recognize things on its own, and apply this knowledge in a myriad of new and complex arangements ? More importantly, how can we replicate such a system ?
One possible answer lies in the field of Deep Networks, which extend traditional Artificial Neural Networks by adding both depth, and a training strategy which relies both on supervised and unsupervised learning.
Academic Bio
Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Ottawa, I decided to return to school after several years in the workforce. I have pursued my interests ever since, obtaining in 2007 a Masters in Computer Science, on the topic of machine learning applied to computer vision. I am now a third year Ph.D. student, working with Yoshua Bengio at the University of Montreal.
